If you like Evanovich's Stephanie Plum you're sure to love Turowski's Tess Cooper There are many laugh out loud moments with Tess getting into all sorts of trouble The characters are very likable in this fast paced book I had a hard time putting it down The writing is very clever and well done I am hooked on Tess Cooper and can't wait for many journeys with her

Inhuman Interest by Eric Turowski is a fun paranormal mystery novel that follows Tess Cooper as she discovers that there are some awfully strange things going on her world Tess Cooper is a reporter who wants to write hard hitting and important pieces Unfortunately the newspaper that she works for does not want that type of story and she keeps getting assigned fluff pieces Sooner or later she's going to lose her job When Tess spots a strange want ad in the paper she soon finds herself working for a very weird man named Egypt as a paranormal research assistant and she must delve into the weird new world around her to save her town from impending doom The Good Inhuman Interest is a fast paced and fun novel Firstly Tess Cooper is a great character who feels very realistic She is a young woman who wants to work and make a name for herself with hard hitting journalism She doesn't let her backwards newspaper editor stop her from following her leads into anything she thinks needs investigation It's nice to read a book about a woman who works hard and surprise surprise goes to work I've read too many books where the main character seem to have infinite time off no matter what their job is Once the story starts they essentially abandon their careers and go on with the story Not Tess Her ambition is integral to the storyThe world itself is very interesting Tess's town is your average small and downtrodden town that you'd find throughout America Below the surface though there is a great deal of magic going on When the town is afflicted with a rash of repeated grave robbings Tess discovers that there is an underlying network of people who know about the paranormal and who use the powers for good and evil Tess has to use her experience in investigative journalism to find a solution before her town is utterly destroyedThe storyline is very uick paced but easy to follow There is enough mystery to keep you wondering who the culprit is and the book moves at a pace that keeps you interested throughout the whole book The secondary characters are all realistic and really well written Tess lives with her grandfather who is a supportive character and adds a bit of humor to the book Egypt her new boss is a very strange man who reveals his softer side as the story progresses The antagonists are threatening but not over the top The Bad The only real negative I had with this book was the romance Tess as a reporter often works with the cops for her stories She meets a new police officer who recently took over the PR liaison job at the local station Though she doesn't like him at first she is immediately attracted to him and he shares the sentiment Their relationship develops rather uicklyI didn't think that the romance was particularly unbelievable but I did find that I just didn't care about it I didn't connect with the police officer character and I didn't feel any real chemistry between them By the end of the book I felt that they were closer to each other than they should have been and I would honestly have rather had no romance at all in this book The Verdict This is a really fun book If you like paranormal mysteries I'd highly recommend it The world is fun and it's such an easy read that you can finish it in no time I look forward to reading the next one Visit Vicarious Caytastrophe for this review and many

original review JC's Book HavenThe one from the want ads? Granddad worked the chaw around in his mouth Seems kinda hinky to me Just remember what I always taught you If he gets out of hand I Know I know Go for the eyes but kick him in the ballsHe smiled That's my girlThe GoodTess Cooper is a well written protagonist She's a reporter who does what she thinks is right despite the cost While doing so she tends to stumble upon life threatening situationsShe ends up meeting Davin Egypt a expert in the occult She also meets Lieutenant Gunther who seems to take a special interest in her While Supernatural things happen in the book you never feel like you're in a fantasy world It feels very realThe BadI was hoping for a bit action I guess as most of the supernatural occurrences happen off screen so to speak I would have liked to see a bit happen in real time instead of the main characters trying to figure out what happened most of the timeThe RomanceTess and the Lieutenant do strike up a bit of a romance while she briefly ponders what it would be like to date DavinConclusionOverall Inhuman Interest was enjoyable To be honest it felt like an episode of the x files If you like a bit of the occult mixed with mystery and investigation all wrapped up with a bit of bad luck then you’ll enjoy this book Plus I really love the granddad in the story He was my favorite character

Tess is a reporter at a local newspaper There had been four cemetery burglaries in the city each about a month apart Tess called the police and asked for Detective Austin and asked if they had figured out that the guy hit during the full moon It had been a five month investigation Corpses had been taken but the valuables hadn't Tess loved mysteries but felt she was going to get fired from the paper as they had her working on stories she didn't like Devon Egypt ran an ad for an assistant for two years starting ASAP Tess was the first to apply He wanted her to help with occult research Devon worked at night He was a very odd man I found Tess to be uite a character not really knowing what she was doing when she started working for Devon She grew to trust him She was smart mentally strong and could be a very determined person when she chose to be She was also compassionate and caring I enjoyed this book I would probably recommend it to science fiction readers

This book was fun and seemed to go so fast It's a bit of a relief to read a supernatural romance that doesn't involve werewolves or vampires Tess is a lot of fun in a Stephanie Plum sort of way while Egypt is creepy but you get the feeling that he's been through things interesting things and want to know The cop boyfriend whose name I've already forgotten is pretty genericI did feel like the book could have spared some time to develop the characters completely but hopefully that will be explored in the next book In particular I hope we learn about Egypt as he seems like an interesting and mysterious character

I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange of an honest review Thank you BooktropeA cross between Doctor Who and the X Files Inhuman Interest is a lot of fun When Tess Cooper a no nonsense journalist answers a want ad to become a paranormal research assistant she discovers a new world she didn't know existed And this new world is creepy but awesome especially her new boss Davin Egypt a mysterious man who seems to know everything The bad guys are a little obvious but the development of the plot is entertaining and well written
