Cynthia “Starr” Starling has a reputation with her employees and it’s not a good one It gets worse around Christmas time since she has a Christmas Day birthday It makes her hate the holiday even To top it all off she finds herself attracted to one of her employees Matt Landry Not only does he work for her but he’s a few years younger He’s definitely off limits but she can’t help think about him all the timeThen on Christmas Eve Starr gets a visit from the ghost of Christmas Past Present and Future It changes everythingThis is a sweet novella It’s a uick read which is nice when everyone is busy this time of year If you want to step away from the madness of the holiday season for a couple of hours this book will be a happy escape

I very much I loved the first story in Hope Tarr's brand new Suddenly Cinderella series Operation Cinderella was one of my favourite reads of 2012 so when I heard that there will be a special holiday novella in the series I couldn't have been happier and excitedIn this holiday novella Hope Tarr gives a modern and romantic retelling of Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol that I found both very entertaining and enjoyableA Cinderella Christmas Carol is the story of Macie's the heroine of the 1st book uptown workaholic single magazine editor boss Cynthia Starr Starling Starr is unhappy and stressed out by work she's not looking forward to the holidays and the days off as she knows how much work is still to be done She is pretty much hated by her employees as she is a strict and demanding perfectionist boss I thought that despite the uite heavily laid characterization Starr was a heroine many readers could understand and relate to She may be far from ideal but most of us have been where she isDespite Starr being the modern Scrooge of this story I found her a likeable character I felt for Hope Tarr did a great job by showing us that despite her tough businesswoman persona Starr had a vulnerable and insecure side and that deep down she just wanted to be loved like all of usMatt is the only employee of Starr who not only does not hate or criticize her but to the contrary understands the pressure she is under and defends her He sees something in her that noone else maybe not even Starr is aware of and he finds her a remarkable woman worthy of his love I found Matt a very humble and kind hearted man a wonderful counterpart to StarrThrough a dream seuence Starr visits four scenes the past present and two potential futures and realizes what really matters in life Verdict A Cinderella Christmas Carol was a perfect modern spin on Dickens' classic holiday story With a delightful hero and a relatable heroine this heart warming story packed some delicious steam ; A Cinderella Christmas Carol is a wonderful holiday novella and I can't wait to read the next stories in Hope Tarr's Suddenly Cinderella seriesPlot 810Characters 910Writing 910Ending 910Cover 610 I'm used to Entangled's beautiful covers and this one looks a bit generic compared to them but since it's a novella I can understand

This was an interesting twist on A Christmas Carol Same premise Christmas past present and future is shown to a somewhat bitter putting it mildly Starr on Christmas Eve The twist comes in the form of a ghost who looks just like Matt Landry the magazine art director Starr can't stop thinking aboutStarr is a woman who is driven to exceed and not be in a situation like her mother was That drive causes her to cut herself from everyone and focus on the bottom line Needless to say Starr doesn't have friends and her co workers don't really like her So what's it going to take to get Starr to see that she needs to make a drastic change her life before she becomes a crabby old cat woman? Enter the ghostly apparition of Matt Landry It may not really be Matt the art director at her magazine who she secretly has a crush on but he's about to show her a condensed version of Christmas' past present and future with the hopes that this year Starr will start to believeStarr is definitely not a woman who is very likable at the beginning of the story But through her journey and the sly comments of ghostly Matt we can see just how Starr got to be the person she is and who the one person is that could change Starr's outlook both personally and professionally In the end Starr has to make the tough decision to continue on the path she's on or to take a chance that her life won't end up like her mother's If you're someone who enjoys A Christmas Carol this is definitely going to be a story right up your alley Hope Tarr does a great job of putting a romantic twist on the old tale and turning Starr into a character you really like at the end

Shey's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews4 StarsI have really come to like this series the first book Operation Cinderella and even though this is a short novella it didn’t lack anything for me a great Christmas read with a new twist on ScroogeCynthia Starling or Starr is what she prefers is the hard nose managing editor of On Top magazine She is tough ruthless and demands nothing but perfection from her employees and if that means they have to work the day after Christmas well so be itThis short read takes Starr on a journey of Christmas past present and future and how such a humble upbringing she had as a child has brought her into this spoiled bitter adult to exactly how her co workers feel about her Then of course her future she has a chance at one which is very promising or one that is actually downright scaryMatt Landry the magazines young hot art director appears to help Starr on this “trip” but it becomes obvious there is to him than just a tour guide Although Starr has feelings for the younger man she is his boss and there could never be anything so she keeps telling herself that When it becomes apparent that he may play an important part in her future Starr has some changing to doArmed new knowledge Starr decides to take her future in her own hands and right a lot of wrongsAlways wanting I look forward to the next book in the series and hopefully get a glimpse of Starr and MattReview copy provided for an honest review

A Cinderella Christmas Carol is a fun new twist to the classic Christmas Carol but with romance of course ;If you read the first book in this series Operation Cinderella you already know Starr and how much of a Scrooge she is But if you haven’t don’t worry you can read it later tooStarr is the managing editor for On Top magazine After her top editor Macie Graham left the magazine Starr has been a little behind schedule on the magazine Now with dreaded Christmas Birthday fast approaching she can’t understand why people don’t get that meeting the deadline is important than just sitting at home So she denies all reuests for time off and demands her entire team show up at work on December 26Matt has is the new designer for On Top and after the recession they really need his talent But the attraction between Starr and Matt in undeniable as is the age gap between them she is seven years older than him and his superior Those are than enough reasons for her to not act on the chemistryBut like a good Christmas Carol there will be a ghost that will show Starr the error of her ways and the two possible endings for her future It is up to her what her life will be but she will either remain on her current path or correct it and make a better possible endingIf you like a good Christmas story this novella is for you It is short fun and sweet so it makes for a perfect uick readReviewed atHarleuinJunkiecom

Also on Cinderella Christmas Carol is without a doubt a fun twist on a Christmas ClassicCynthia Starling Starr would definitely fit the part of Scrooge yet she probably doesn't see herself that way With the help of a spirit guide who is in the image of Matt Landry who is drool worthy As Starr and Matt go on a merry adventure to see if Starr can have a change of heartAt the beginning I said it was a fun twist on Christmas classic and it wouldn't be a Cinderella story without some magic shoes I really did like this uick read I mean who doesn't love A Christmas Carol I mean the story shows how to find the true meaning a Christmas However I really did appreciate this modern day read of A Christmas Carol So if you are looking for a novella with a A Christmas Carol theme you might want to checkout A Cinderella Christmas Carol May you all find Christmas joy this month and in your reads
