OH MY GLOB So unexpected I mean everything just changed abruptly At first the book was just OK then BOOM it changed and and become all exciting Am glad i gave this book a chance i loved it and the ending was so unexpected The kinda disturbing part is Thyra's ability to get away so easily with all her killings She got what she wanted in the end but in a twisted unexpected wayRe Read UpdateClearly i loved this book the first time i read it Don't get me wrong i did still enjoy it but it frustrated me than it excited me and that's why i'm knocking of a star Yes the ending was unexpected and everything did change abruptly but it went from okay to why oh why oh why I hated Thyra i couldn't stand her if i'm honest She was jealous of everyone and it was pathetic the worst friend in the world and definitely a psychopath Once she let that side of her out there's was no going back There were ualities of her that i appreciated like she was a good listener a hard worker and she definitely knew what she wanted The worst part though the thing that gets on my nerve the most is there was no conseuence for the things that she did Other people paid for it but not her that frustrates me to my core If Noll's intention was for people to feel this way about Thyra then she succeeded There was no other character that made an impact to me maybe because my hate for Thyra overpowered my likeness for the other charactersThat aside i really liked her writing and everything else about Hell Hath No Fury hence the 3 star I would actually recommend this to other people Side Note i had forgotten a lot about what went on in this book

Apparently I never added this one of my first books of the new year because of finishing it on a train in the small hours of January I adored it It is dark and hilarious and pitch perfect and I can't believe it has taken me this long to discover an acclaimed German author of feminist mystery fiction I'm so delighted to add Ingrid Noll to my bookshelves

Low key melancholic and black humor filled murder mystery reminiscent of Karin Fossum I thought When you are in the mood for this kind of laconic and thoughtful narrative it's really great

I read an extract of this for a German course I'm taking but some of the comments made in class by those who'd read the book were so intriguing that I got hold of a copy and read it cover to cover I'm glad I did For one thing it feeds into an area I'm researching for my own book The central character of Rosi Hirte is fascinating She has been a spinster ever since having been disappointed in love while at university Now 52 she's about to fall in love with a man she barely knows but attempts to befriend under bizarre circumstances What follows is a fascinating look at one woman's obsession and the lengths she is willing to go to in order to turn the fantasy life she creates for herself into reality It's chilling at times especially when Rosi applies her matter of fact view of the world to the situations she finds herself in This is when she appears at her most cold and calculating when in fact she's simply become so blinkered to the end goal that everything else she does along the way pales into insignificance It's an interesting look at how someone can become so distanced from or ignoredmisunderstood by society that they react by creating their own version of the world

Interesting book reminds me of novels by Patricia Highsmith The surprises and twists kept me engaged The central character's uirkiness and ability to escaped from troubles of her own making ultimately became a little disturbing Didn't enjoy it as much as Noll's Ladylike but didn't discourage me from reading by her
