Okay, so let's get this out of the way firsts: regarding the art work and complaints to the effect it was not good enough.I am an artist, went to college for art, and all that So I actually understand anatomy, and all that stuff.Drawing likenesses is far challenging than people who do not know art realise Drawing likenesses in various poses and angles of view is even MORE difficult without reference models So, what? the artist for this was supposed to hunt down frames of the actors in the poses he wanted to portray them? That is not practical for than financial reasons. Also understand that some artists are actually good at this but they are not necessarily available or interested in pursuing something of this nature That shortens the list of artists willing and capable of tackling a project like this Believe me, this isn't as easy as you think, to assemble a graphic novel It is time consuming and tedious work but for dedicated people it truly is a labour of love because EVERYONE involved has a stake in the success of the effort (and not purely financial in nature) By the time you finish something of this nature, you are in love with everything about it (as much as just wanting to be done already!).So, you have to accept that this is an homage, not a photo realistic portrayal of each character When you get so wrapped up in things like, I was confused by how they looked, you just ruin the deeper point and purpose of these graphic novels:The Serenity/Firefly universe continues to thrive and live through these efforts.Moving on The story is very well written The plot considered, the actions understandable And we get to spend a bit time with our beloved Browncoats and the crew Isn't that really the deeper point?

I've had this for probably 2 weeks now and have only managed to get through about half of it so far so take this for what it's worthAlmost right away, I was a bit saddened by reading this I could tell immediately that it was written with (at least nearly) as much love and connection to these characters as Joss himself It was also apparent that this story would be perfect for the big screen as a sequel to Serenity And so it was with mixed feelings that I continued to read since I knew this story and any others would never be seen on the big screen (or small screen for that matter) I've also found myself reading only a couple pages at a time and putting the book down Not because it's tough to get into but because reading this I can hear the voices of my favorite fictional characters and I'm taken back to that wonderful time when the crew of Serenity still had life.I'm anxious to get through this and see how the story unfolds but a part of me is hesitant to do so too quickly for fear of losing them once again So I'm savoring it; making it last as long as I can Yes, I'm probably nuts but I know there are at least a few of you who knwo exactly what I'm talking about And for those of you who can understand this rationale and even relate to it but haven't purchased this, please do yourself the favor and do so now You won't regret it.Thank you to Zach Whedon and company for breathing life back into some of my favorite people in the verse one time Even if it is just briefly.

Anyone who's a Firefly fan and if you're my friend, OF COURSE YOU ARE was heartbroken by the end of the movie Serenity , and wanted to know, and THEN what happened? This graphic novel (which came out in 2014 but somehow I missed), answers that question. The story takes place several months after the events in Serenity The 'verse responded to those events by forming the new resistance, but Malcolm Reynolds and crew have disappeared from view In typical Whedon fashion, the author (Zach Whedon, here) does not belabor us with the details of how some of the things in between came about The details unfold in a marvelous fashion It's still clever and funny and non obvious Every character acts, well, in character For instance, when a crew member's life is in danger, OF COURSE Mal does the right thing no matter what it costs. As other reviewers point out, the graphic part of the book is a little odd In some ways it's beautifully drawn If you had never actually seen the TV show or the movie, you'd have no complaints But it's a poor job of duplicating the actors we know; for instance, it actually took me a while, as I began to read, to recognize that _that_ was supposed to be Inara That's not so bad; you get used to it But when we are reintroduced to secondary characters we haven't seen since the TV show, it's disconcerting to invest time in trying to figure out, Who's that supposed to be?However, I urge you to ignore any weaknesses in the graphics, because the story itself is great I can't give you details I truly do not want to spoil it but the what happened next? is completely satisfying.

A story of events from the Firefly/Serenity universe that take place after the events in the movie The involvement of Joss Whedon not only provides a official and authorized stamp to the project, but also gives us insight into where Mr Whedon wanted to take the characters It would be interesting to ask Mr Whedon when he came up with this plot because to me it's velocity and brevity fits to TV then a feature length movie I imagine that, like most/all artists, he had a number of storylines recorded that never made it to the 14 episode series or the movie.I have to admit that I initially did note the characters images did not perfectly match the actors I got over that real because of the quality of the story All in all, complaints about that are irrelevant to my mind As to the length of the story: it's a lot like a series episode It's not a novella or novel.

As we many, I was left wanting after Firefly and Serenity this short book perfectly proceeds the film and series giving a great insight in to what happened next I would say I loved it but it ended too soon! For just over £6 it was a bit expensive as I read it in one night Loved the story however.

A suitable and logical follow on story from the Serenity movie.drawings are relatively accurate and respectful to its source material.VERY detailed, high quality (poster like) images of characters between chapters.

I just love the characters and this storyline is a great continuation of the original Nice art work too, all in all an excellent part of the Serenity genre.

Really good read for any fan of the show or film, Though i wouldn't recommend it if you haven't seen both.Could also have done with been a bit longer as felt a little rushed But was great to find out what Mal and the gang have been up to since Serenity.
