35 StarsMake You Remember was a sweet second chance romance with a sprinkling of paranormal and the fun setting of a riverboat Devyn and Beau were high school sweethearts in an all consuming love until Beau got cold feet ran out on Devyn and joined the military She didn’t find out where he was until a couple of weeks after he left and even then it was only a six word note “Sorry Dev I joined the Marines” Ten years later Beau is back in town and wants a second chance with Devyn He regretted leaving almost immediately and has never forgotten Devyn He’s never had feelings for any other woman come close to what he felt and still feels for her I could understand Devyn’s hostility and reluctance to let Beau Dumont back into her heart After all the Dumont men had a horrible reputation with women datingfor decades In fact part of this story centers on the curse that Devyn’s great great grandmother cast onto Beau’s great great grandfather after he ditched her at the altar Only one Dumont man has been able to break the curse and it was not easy So Beau definitely has his work cut out for himOn the other hand I have to say that Beau was only a teenager when he skipped out on Devyn and who could blame someone so young for having a panic over the thought of permanence? In any case Beau was very sorry and demonstrated that time and time again Devyn was slow coming around but in the meantime they had some steamy hot encounters and got to know each other deeply than they did as teenagers Gradually Devyn began to trust Beau again and it was obvious these two would eventually work things out This was a fun romance with a sweet ending Can’t wait to read Ella Claire and Alex’s romance next A copy was kindly provided by Signet in exchange for an honest reviewThis review is also posted on The Readers Den

Devyn Mauvais is seriously down on her luck besides having money issues and her car repossessed her former high school sweetheart has managed to trick her into taking a job on his family's boat Belle of the Bayou Now she must spend a couple of days stuck working on the same boat as Beau and the chemistry between them is not only unavoidable but hotter than everI never read book one but that's okay it wasn't hard to pick up the pieces and follow along The book does well as a stand alone The Dumont's brothers are suffering from a family curse that makes them very unlucky in love and usually has them running for the hills Only one brother has managed to break the curse so far thus erasing the strange mark that stains their skin over their heart but it wasn't easyDespite making the biggest mistake of his life and letting Devyn slip through his fingers after High School Beau is sure he is a reformed man and he wants nothing but to prove it to Devyn a task that doesn't come easy not when she no longer trusts himA fun story I enjoyed the setting how most of the story took place on a riverboat was kind of different There was a lot of steamy chemistry between Beau and Devyn and you cannot help but really like them both Beau for doing everything he can to get in good graces with Devyn and Devyn's snarky personality that made me giggle through the book I really did enjoy the chemistry between them and the drama that unfolded in the end I couldn't help but root for the both of them to break the curse even if it was obvious what was coming Beau impressed me by how much effort he put into actually trying to accomplish that The chemistry between them was really great It did feel like there was a bit too much love scenes between the two that could have been done without but it was easy to skim through and did not stop me from enjoying the writing and the wonderful plot I got a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review

Macy Beckett can do no wrong in my eyes Make You Remember is the fifth book of hers that I've read sixth if you count novellas and I have adored each and every one I am so picky when it comes to romances but she never fails to write exactly what I'm looking for Her stories are sexy funny and tender and her couples are than ship worthy As soon as I finish one I'm always ready to pick up the next Case in point after reading Make You Mine I wished I could immediately read Beau and Devyn's story They dated and fell in love in high school but then he suddenly skipped town joined the military and left Devyn with a goodbye note and a broken heart Ten years later Beau has returned and the antagonism that sparks between them in the first book was enough to ensure that theirs is a story I would be enjoying A little background first for 99 years the men of the Dumont family have remained perpetual bachelors though whether that’s due to a century old curse or their own fear of commitment has yet to be decided Their history is mysteriously linked to that of the Mauvais family; many of the residents that make up the Cedar Bayou believe Devyn and her sister Allie heroine of the first book descend from a powerful witch It seems Allie and Marc have broken the curse as they are now happily married and in love Beau Dumont though has a long way to go if he is to win back his girl When I first met Devyn in Make You Mine I was worried I wouldn't connect with her as much as her sister Whereas Allie is soft passionate and she goes after what she wants with her whole heart Devyn is like a cat with her claws always out She is stubborn fierce and kinda cranky But once I actually got inside her head it was no trouble at all for me to like her She is currently down on her luck since she can't find a stable job and it doesn't help that the only guy she's ever loved is now back in town When somehow she winds up as Beau's employee stuck aboard the same boat as him for two weeks her walls slowly start crumbling At first they have a sort of no strings relationship at least on the outside Lately I've been wary of this set up since it's so common in contemporary romances but it didn't bother me here There's so much chemistry and heat between them as well as longing that I never grew frustrated by Devyn's need to push Beau away It's obvious she cares about him but she needs time and she needs to forgive and trust himThankfully Beau is there to always steer their relationship in the right direction Guys I'm totally smitten with Beau He's ex military he's a bit gruff and he's head over heels for Devyn From the first page to the last he is all about her Second chance romances are some of my favorites and this one is at the top of the list The way Beau and Devyn reconnect had my heart racing and melting at the same time I not only felt the shared history between them but also how deeply their emotions currently ran There's just something about winning back your first love that gets me every time And let me tell you Beau does everything in his power to make that happen When he thinks Devyn is getting too comfortable with their arrangement he takes a step back forcing her to acknowledge that what they have runs deeper than lust When Devyn is unsure and vulnerable he knows whether to push her or to give her some space I adore how hard he fought for her especially at the end If that's not true love I don't know what isThere are some fantasy aspects to this story but not really? More like myths voodoo and family curses within a New Orleans setting It actually plays a stronger role in the first book than it does in the second for which I'm grateful I think things at the end of Make You Mine got a little too weird In this one Beau wants to break the curse and there are a few physical manifestations of its presence but it's not used as much as a plot device It felt better integrated and on the charming sideWith two books down in this series I'm hoping for at least two I am now possibly even excited for the next couple than I was for Beau and Devyn So Marc has three half brothers one of those being Beau and another being Alex and he also has a half sister who is not related to his half brothers Ella Claire She and Alex have this best friends but secretly love each other relationship but he's afraid to take it to the next level because of Marc Anyway I can't wait for their HEA and to see how it all plays out Be sure to catch up with me before it releases This review can also be found at Love at First Page

I don't exactly know what made me pick up Make You Remember by Macy Beckett I was in the mood for a light fluffy and romantic read and thought this looked like a decent choice This book was so great you guys I think I've found a new favorite contemporary romance author who I can list right next to Lisa KleypasMake You Remember had one of my favorite kind of romance second chance romance I love the idea of the two people falling apart due to being very young and then reconnecting again in their later years There are plenty of emotions and feels about and gets me in a swoony mood Make You Remember's second chance romance was done really well in my opinion and I believe it's because of how great both Beau and Devyn were as characters Devyn was a girl after my heart with her sassy nature and her feisty attitude She strived to be independent and hated having to rely on other people I loved how no matter what the situation was or how much she really needed help she still attempted to do everything she could in order to make herself stand up on her own feet We need women like Devyn in the world and she's definitely someone I aspire to be like in the future Of course I also have selfish reasons for wanting to be her I WANT A BEAU DUMONT FOR MYSELF Damn this man He was all kinds of perfect and made me swoon with how gentlemanly he was Can you tell that I'm a little bit obsessed with him? Yeah well if you read this book you will want him all for yourself as well so I'm already warning you ladies that he belongs to me DevynWhat makes the romance pretty amazing in Make You Remember isn't just the searing chemistry that Devyn and Beau shared Sure they had a lot of that and that ensures that we have plenty of steamy scenes between them that doesn't necessarily involve sex but it's how they worked together towards their relationship Devyn was wary at the beginning of the book because she was scared to have her heart broken from the same guy who had left her after he promised he wouldn't after high school but she and Beau worked as a team to achieve a stable relationship I appreciated the fact that Beau really tried to make amends for what he did to her I also loved that there was no unnecessary drama that acted as a huge obstacle to their relationship and that dragged for half the book that is so typical of contemporary romances I also absolutely loved the setting of the cruise boat It was fun being able to vicariously go on a cruise because you can't pay me to set foot on a boat for days The secondary cast was also really interesting I loved the bond between Devyn and her sister and I definitely want to read the first book in the series which features of Devyn's sister and Beau's older brotherIf you are in the mood for a light and romantic read that features great lead characters humor and a swoony romance that will make you sigh in happiness you should definitely try Make You Remember I highly recommend it

Find this review and at kimberlyfaye readsI read a lot of second chance stories but my new favorite is Macy Beckett's Make You Remember From the characters to the setting I adored everything about this book and I just can't recommend it highly enough We met Devyn and Beau and got a glimpse at their history during the first Dumont Bachelors book Make You Mine But boy oh boy there was still a lot we didn't know We know they're high school sweethearts and they both believe their love is due to fail thanks to Beau's family curse You know the curse that her sister and Beau's half brother managed to break in the first book in the series Once Devyn accepts a job working on The Belle and finds herself face to face with Beau in tight uarters there's no doubt these two still share some pretty strong feelings In a huge role reversal from most romance novels Devyn is happy to keep things casual while Beau insists that's just not enough He'll settle for a physical relationship for now but only until he can convince her they belong together What ensues is good sexy fun with a lot of feels and heart I am totally head over heels in love with Beau As much as I enjoyed Marc in the first Dumont Bachelors book Beau is that much MORE He was a little rough around the edges ex military and sexy as can be I loved everything about this man and his devotion to Devyn From the very first page through all the ups and downs Beau only had eyes for Devyn He was seriously swoony You just can't help but love a man that determined and sweet Sometimes guys like that can be too intense and come off a little creepy but in no way at any time did Beau seem creepy He was just up front with his feelings and intent on making Devyn admit her feelings Curse or no curse I had to warm up a bit to Devyn but it wasn't but a couple chapters into the book before I was singing her praises as well She was feisty and tough Beau had a way of softening her up though I just loved the dynamic between them They were passionate and real I shipped this couple hard Macy Beckett has after just two books become one of my new go to guilty pleasure authors I've thoroughly enjoyed both of her books but there's no doubt that Make You Remember is the one that made me fall in love with her writing I love the cast of characters in the Dumont Bachelors series and I'm really eager to get to the next book I really hope it's Ella Claire and Alex's story I love these two and need them to get their HEA soon I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

If there is one perfect truth in the world it's that we were made for each other A sweet second chance romanceDevyn's heart was broken ten years earlier when her high school sweetheart abandoned her With just a note left behind for her he joined the marines and never looked back Since then she's been grumpy and really unsettled in her life She dropped out of college and finds herself living paycheck to paycheck and bouncing from one horrible job to another Things get turned upside down when Beau shows back up He's decided to become a managing partner of the family riverboat along with his brother MarcBeau offers Devyn a job in the learning center on the boat When he left her behind her plan was to become a teacher but now she isn't so sure what she wants to do with her life She's been offered a job running a cemetery tour but she doesn't want to be a sellout Reduced to making money off of her great great grandmother's voodoo priestess legacy She decides to take the temp job with Beau and after a few days aboard he's really getting to her Refusing to open her heart up to him again for fear of getting hurt is easier said than done She thinks she's content with a few sexy romps around the boat But Beau has made it clear he wants and isn't going to settle for the little piece of herself she's giving him It might be the dreaded Dumont curse that's to blame thoughI love a second chance romance and instantly liked this book than Make You Mine But as the story progressed it almost felt like the author used the outline from the first book to develop this story While the characters had a different feel there were a lot of similarities in the plot the rushed timeline of the story and ending I liked that Devyn ended up having the purest kind of faith in Beau and his love It made for a cute ending35 FangsMrsLeif's Two Fangs About It Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
