Come over to for an Excerpt Guest Blog by Michael J Lee Ian is over 400 year old vampire he spent the Cold war with the British Intelligent service until they decided he was no longer needed Ian escaped to Ohio and has been living a civil life until one evening he walks into an ambush a reminder of Grigori and old enemy who brings back memories of Viola Natch and his first ever operation with the service Viola’s death by Grigori was something he never forgave so now that he’s tracking Grigori’s henchmen to Connecticut he can’t believe his eyes when out of the house he’s surveying walks out ViolaLarissa hadn’t had an easy life but what’s messing her up even to a degree darker is nightmares she can’t ignore nightmares the scare the bejesus out of her most night except those where a tall dark and handsome man appears calling her Viola So when the man turns up as she’s working the late shift as a barista in her crap job she sees the man of her dreams and he calls her Viola Before she can think straight she’s attacked and saved by a vampire And nothing is what it has seemedSomeone called this a mix between James Bond and Dracula and that hit’s home pretty goodI really liked this book I like action with my love stories and vampires as well so this was perfectIan is an interesting character calm very human like wants to do something for his country and hence becomes an operative and gets to use the skills learned to help EnglandLarissa is a bit dry sarcastic character with a nice powerful but soft side she’s the fish out of water type in the beginning of this story but comes to navigate the new world with a fun view of itFrom Russia from Blood is a great mix of thriller and romance Enough of both and a story that moves effortlessly forward with right amounts of action romance discovery and twists to keep the reader absorbed in the storyThis is a book for readers who like their vampires English and their heroine’s witty and if you have a soft spot for spies and the vampire kind of Bond then here you go you don’t want to miss this one

Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma Winston ChurchillIan Redd used to work for the British Intelligence during the Cold War after the Berlin Wall came tumbling down no one wanted the services of a 400 year old vampire any Ian then settled in a small town and things remained uiet until a professional hit team arrive at his doorstep intrigued Ian sets out to discover who or what wants him dead along the way he meets Larissa Barton a ghost from his pasteverything about this book is fun author Michael J Lee has written a very enjoyable and refreshing story about a vampire operative Ian is flawed and uite the sentimental fool for me these ualities make him a very interesting characterin order to save the world Ian and Larissa not only have to deal with their own pasts and memories respectively but they also need to use their wits and uniue abilities in getting out of tight situations while confronting supernatural thugs there is a lot of action involved and a bit of romance to spice things up as welli really liked the plot the idea of a vampire spy and how the people and places were designed to form a connection which comes full circle in the last part of the book i also like the author's writing style simple straightforward and without any superfluous details this made for a fast paced and exciting read from start to finishif the next adventure is as fun as Ian and Larissa's first one together i certainly look forward to reading about what is in store for this uniue partnership between a vampire and a witch Disclosure of Material Connection i received a copy of From Russia With Blood from the author as part of a blog tour i did not receive any payment in exchange for this review nor was i obligated to write a positive one all opinions expressed here are entirely my own and may not necessarily agree with those of the author the book's publisher and publicist or the readers of this review this disclosure is in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising

Today's review is on From Russia with Blood by Michael J Lee There are those books that you just can not put down the ones that seem to call out to you and carry you on a journey you never want to end Then there are those books that seem to drag on and on until you want to pull your hair out The ones you force yourself to finish because you just have to Somewhere in the middle is From Russia with Blood Though it is a nice book it was just that NiceIan is a 400 year old vampire trying to live his immortal life with out really hurting anyone He had been a spy in the past but now retired he has let his guard down and now someone is after him While on the run he never thought he would come face to face with the woman he had lost so many years before but it's not her it's her daughterLarissa Barton is working in her home town at a dead end job dealing with obnoxious college students a snarky roommate and a power hungry boss Plagued by nightmares she meets the man that has been haunting her in her sleep when Ian walks into the coffee shop she is working in From that moment on Larissa is thrown into a world where vampires werewolves and witches really exist In fact she finds out that she is a witch herself A very powerful one at that Both Ian and Larissa go on a uest to find and bring down the evil GRIGORI TSARINOVICH; who turns out to be none other than the infamous Rasputin Yes there is action but it was nothing spectacular Yes there was love but not really anything to write home about Bottom line From Russia with Love is just another average book in the sea of average books I did also see a few editing errors and that really bothers me There is NO reason why a book going out to the public should have ANY mistakes It just makes all involved look bad3 of 5 stars

This is one of those books that puts you in mind of so many other stories – the Night Watch trilogy Necroscope series and Saint Germain saga immediately come to mind – but which has such a strong voice you very uickly stop making comparisons and just settle in for the read Personally I prefer my vampires unrepentantly evil and monstrously scary but Ian has such a charm to him and such a carefully laid out back story that I ‘bought’ his redemption For me though it was Larissa who stole the book I liked her from the start especially with the way in which she first deals with the arrival of her nightmare in the coffee shop where she works She could have worked just fine as a mortal heroine leaving Ian to loom over all aspects of the story but making her a witch elevated her to true ‘partner’ status giving the story some much appreciated depth and varietyAs for the villain well how can you go wrong with the infamous Rasputin? There was definitely a potential for cheesiness here a temptation to play up the scene chewing eccentricity of a James Bond villain but Lee deftly handles the legacy allowing Rasputin to develop as a character of his ownThe action was inventive the pacing was very good I can only think of a few places where it lagged a bit and the romantic elements were just about perfect While not the greatest work of vampire fiction ever written it’s a welcome addition to the genre
