This was okay While I wasn't tempted to simply leave it it wasn't terribly difficult to put down or take a break I think that's mainly due to Mel She's an emotional basket case and seems determined to do everything in the hardest way possible Worse she does so out of a deep seated fear of rejection and loss that undermines everything she does So the whole time everybody is going on about how strong she is she knows as does the reader through her that it's all a complete lie and uite the opposite in realityOffsetting that at least is Dan He's not only fleshed out as a character but he's all kinds of engaging as well I liked that he's as much discovering himself as he is getting to know ranching and Mel and Montana And I liked his steady growth from a guy who is mainly curious to examine his family origins into someone who knows what he wants and is determined to become the kind of guy who can have itWhich boils down to an average romance with flashes of fun from Dan and Mel getting to know one another being offset by periods of bewilderment at them mostly Mel being unbelievably bone headed and self defeating Oh and the occasional random drama showing up out of the blue didn't help any I'm not sure if I'll pursue the series as Caleb was a brooding weakling feeling oh so much pain that I'm not terribly eager to get to know him any betterA note about Steamy About the middle of my steam tolerance There are two or three explicit sex scenes depending on how you count them as one scene spans a couple chapters with a micro break between I liked how they supported the growth of their relationship though Helm walks back a lot of the progress pretty fast afterwards

DNF at Chapter 3 Will return to this one laterMontana ranch life a hockey player turned cowboy and a strong woman Sounded superb to meHowever I did three chapters of two people sniping at each other for no reason other than they had some preconceived notions about what the other should be and a resistance to attraction Normally I give a book some time to show me it has And I will but at the moment I am in the mood to smack both protagonists and walk off in a huff Sooo I'll wait until I'm in a different mood to give this pair a chance to get over it since I see some real potential for a strong engaging story with her background and his playing into it

LLAMA FARMING IN ROMANCE What a great heroAlso despite what I just said about hard families not being a thing I'm into right now I liked how it manifested here I liked the heroine's damage the closed off emotional stuff felt very true to me And I loved how the hero wouldn't let the heroine walk away from him how they worked through shit together Broken people becoming whole together That's the best

Rosalie's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews35 starsDan Sharpe seems to have made and continue to make a mess of his prestigious hockey career Hockey is all he has ever had; but now he’s having to retreat to avoid causing damage When his grandfather suggests taking over the “slightly” run down family ranch Dan decides this would be perfect during his stint of reprieveMel Shaw is a family girl and looks forward to running her father’s ranch However a sudden injury thrusts this responsibility onto her much uicker than any of the Shaw family anticipated Her formerly delinuent brother Caleb and Mel do everything in their power to get the Shaw ranch running as it should be They know they can make their ranch profitable And taking a 3 month consulting job will really help the two achieve thisThe meeting between Dan and Mel is rather amusing It’s the typical thought that Mel is a man turns out to be a woman both are secretly attracted to each other and fight that attraction kind of book Watching the struggle and downfall between the two was interesting I really liked Dan’s character He was the cocky athlete that I immediately love as a character Mel was a character that really fought for her independence rightfully so but tended to go overboard I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book with CalebReview copy provided for an honest review

Dan is getting a ride awakening when it comes to living in the country he looked around the kitchen with a thoughtful look on his face “You know I hadn’t given it much thought McDonald’s nearby? I haven’t had one of their hash browns in years” She stared And stared And stared a little Dan grimaced “No McDonald’s huh?” Dan really is a sweet and caring man “we can figure it out honey I’m not going anywhere” Not any damn where until he knew she would be okay Hell maybe not even then I really enjoyed this book I loved Dan
