Thank you baby boomers for completely fucking up any progress you made towards social liberation in the 60s Now you're all divorced and addicted to benzodiazepenes your kids hate you and you need a Prius plus a loft on 20th and Florida to ease the cognitive dissonance generated by the fact you sold out and will die very very soon Scary innit?Nah but I got love All I'm saying is us post generation X'ers have to start all over again to define a rebellious generation We grew up on ritalin super mario brothers and the internet Fertile ground for over educated underpaid thrill addicts with the attention span of a drosophila Further having shit like Max Hardcore and tubgirl as our primary introduction to sexuality has made for some uestionable moral etiuette when it comes to summoning the storkIn spite of all this we get by The Modern Gentleman is a manifesto which sets to re define virility and charm for lads like us This isn't the regular etiuette book which orders banal gallantries like keeping elbows off the table buy her drinks and bring her back before midnight; nor is it some creepy Speed Seduction coursebook on nailing MILFs via hypnosisInstead it elegantly chronicles the recipe for the modern man One part charmer two parts lush 100% Dandy For anyone looking to add a little variety to their etiuette or simply in need of some original drink recipesYou really can't go wrong either way

A bit tongue in cheek this little primer is a good collection of tidbit information for those who wish to round out their conversational skills It does not inform on any given subject exhaustively nor does it claim to Part I The Gregarious Gentleman is okay in its attempt to humorously engage relationship topics like Group Dynamics The Active Table and various stages of an intimate relationshipThe better strength coming in Part II The Inner Gentleman Here we find enough details and information on a variety of useful topics such as; literature jazz flora fashion classical music including a nice little aside on opera business attire and domestic guidelinesPart III The Potent Gentleman takes aim at the venerable vices spirits gaming and the poniesA neat little read that looks good on a coffee table or shelf You can't fault a book too much when it contains a segment on the etiuette of flaskmanship Good for a graduation gift or for the man who has everythingConspicuously missing is a full write up on the advanced of shaving techniues

ah men are pigs not just in that chauvenistic way but relating to the fact that there are uite a few schlubs out there yeah you know who you are this book is for youbeing only semi schlubby i thought the book touched on some points that i had in fact considered but never really resolved in matters relating to etiuette refinement but it goes beyond that what booze goes best in a flask seating order at dinner parties the proper orchestration of dating multiple womenbeing that it's a guide some matters are appropriate than others for perusal but whatever topic one flips to the advice is guaranteed to be elouent thoughtful and many times uite funny

The only thing I took away from this book was its robust vocabulary which was a delight to look up A surprising catalogAs for the actual book it's fun and pompous and does offer some nice guides to dress and manner but it didn't hit in terms of being a guide A self indulgent smirk at a witty crack and then forgotten immediately

Oh Mr Tesauro and Mr Mollod even though I don't know you your wit with words is without comparison Each sentence each phrase each syllable — all so dense with meaning and insight I can't take itI was hoping to fly through this book but I keep finding myself pausing to take a moment of pleasure and reflection on such lines as When necessary keep it uiet fun and light on the libido; chicken fights are efficient without the hydrodynamic drag of an uninvited erection advice on proper skinny dipping etiuetteSmashing work

This is the book of advice your dad gave you if your dad was James Bond Highly entertaining Phineas and Tesauro offer portraits of gentlemanly charm Chivalry is indeed not dead and the advice given here is thematically classic As with all advice it is important to use discretion and not apply these tips blindly Still this guide here will indeed make for a savvy lifestyle and some colorful stories
