E ghosts who supposedly dwell there Intrigued by the bespectacled mysterious Benedict Harriet begins to feel the first flames of desire course through her blood But in the dark hallways of the ramshackle manor something sinister than ghosts stalks and will do everything in its power to keep Harriet and Benedict apart foreve. When her friends purchase for her a vacation to stay at a haunted house the heroine is excited Besides for the obvious chance of seeing an actual ghost like something from her horror novels she's also happy at the chance to have excitement in her life See she's grown up without a mother and with a father who earned money by gambling and who brought his only daughter dressed as a boy to gambling clubs late at night The heroine has little to no money shabby clothing and no experience with dealing with the higher end of English society When she meets the hero it's late at night in a reputed haunted castle and she's all muddy after having fell outside in the storm Her vivid imagination at first paints her mysterious visitor as a monster but in candle light she sees he's hansom enough if a bit unremarkable Glasses blonde brown hair and silent he is a complete mystery to her yet she finds him captivating The hero is simply there to find the one responsible for murdering the man he considered a father else he too has no desire or skill to interact with people in general let alone the higher class He is very much the listening type not the talking type and as such meaningless conversation sets his teeth on edge But with the heroine he finds himself very much in the company of a kindred spirit She too is appreciative of the notion of speaking only when one has something important to say and together they share comfortable silences in addition of cleaver conversations The heroine is witty kind and able to laugh at herself She is not a flighty bird in need of saving or who will faint at the first sign of trouble Instead she meets life challenges head on and with a great dead of bravery without being reckless She may not have known the hero for than 2 days but in that short time he's come to mean the world to her And they have come to know and understand each other deeply than they ever imagined They can simply look at each other and know what the other is thinking The hero may not enjoy the distraction she causes from his uest but neither does he fight it Never before had he ever met a woman so perfect for him One who eagerly seeks adventure one who trusts him and believes in him 100% and one who's able to make him laugh He's not the type to exhibit humor or banter but he does so with the heroine So knowing how much he cares for her he's furious and horrified to realize that's she's being targeted by a blackmailer who's actively looking to see her dead Now he must solve the mystery of the blackmailing and the mystery of the murder of his father At the same time the heroine is seeking the mystery of the ghosts that haunt the castle Together despite the danger it seems that nothing can keep them apart or stop them from their goals My goodness I loved this book Yes there were like 3 mysteries going on at the same time but regardless the characters brought this story to life and made me swoon with happiness The strong silent mysterious hero who can be counted on in the face of danger A man who had a heart of gold and a love for one women whom he dedicated everything into protecting A woman who had such a thirst for life a lovely personality and a magnetic charm that made everything in her company fall in love the hero most of all Chemistry off the freaking charts and hot sex scenes that I was actually invested in When you read as many romance novels as I do sad to say the sex gets to be a little predictable Yet without graphics or erotica of any kind this couple made my heart pound and my eyes glued to the writing to see what was coming next Such an amazing set of characters and a smooth easy writing style that kept the story flowing marvelously Oh and did I mention how much I adored both of these characters Cause I did Immensely From their first meeting to the ending they had such a spark and a life to them that I felt like I wanted to be part of their world Very special I'd eagerly read anything further from this author if this was a hint of what's to come Ship of Magic (Liveship Traders, ramshackle manor something sinister than ghosts stalks and will do everything in its power to keep Harriet and Benedict apart foreve.
