I hate the ending hate it hate it hate it If you have loved Lydia and Ross's story in Sunset Embrace you will feel sad about the ending It is not fair that they only had 20 years together Why should the past hunt Ross till the very endI love the ending of Priscilla I hate that womanAs for Jake; how could he fool himself in love with Lydia for 20 years That is just stupidAs for the writing; I hate how Banner refers to her mother and father by their first name Who the hell does that I think that love story between Jake and Barren was dragged too long However I love this novel for the love of Lydia and Ross If you loved Sunset Embrace you must read this oneI wish there was a story of Lee I would read it

Safely tucked away on my keeper shelf are two books that to this day remain my all time favorite western romances One is my guilty little pleasure A heart So Wild by Johanna Lindsey and the other is Another Dawn by Sandra BrownA seuel to Sunset Embrace featuring Ross Lydia Coleman Another Dawn picks up the tale years later with the marriage of their only daughterEveryone has come to the Coleman ranch for the marriage of Banner Coleman to local boy Grady Sheldon Including Jake Langston the much beloved friend of all the Coleman's Jake Bubba to Ross and Lydia keeps his distance from the family because he shares a history with them that no one wants to talk about much less Jake himself Sunset Embrace But he finds himself intricately intertwined with them once when Banner's fiance's infidelities come to light at the altarTo salve her wounded pride Banner decides she won't be cheated of her wedding night so she goes to the one man as lonely as she Jake Langston When she approaches him he thinks she's crazy but he can't help but notice the woman she's become seemingly overnight In the end he takes what she's offering and it changes their relationship foreverImagine their surprise when the very next day Ross offers Jake a job as foreman on the ranch he's is giving to Banner When his signing on becomes the caveat to owning the ranch she reluctantly agrees because than anything she wants to get on with her lifeTheir time together on the ranch crackles with sexual tension as neither of them can forget that passion filled night though Jake tries to with all his might When Jake almost loses her one stormy night he decides he's tired of fighting what his heart's known all along they were meant to be togetherAnother Dawn has so much going for it that I don't know where to begin Sexy tortured hero feisty intelligent heroine and all kinds of heart wrenching situations that keep you on the edge your seat Full of longing and heated glances this is romance that goes straight for the gut Even as I reread it recently I felt like I was taken on a journey though I knew exactly where they were goingBe warned The ending will break your heart even as it breaks the biggest rule in romance But that's what makes this novel a cut above the rest It certainly would have been less moving without itThis is the kind of book that made me fall in love with reading and I still can't recommend Another Dawn any highly then I always have5 out of 5If you can read Sunset Embrace first but it's perfectly fine as a stand alone

This review was brought to you by Fictional Euivalent of a Car Crash and I Can't Look AwayOkay big time yuck and DNF As bad as some of the reviewers say but for all new reasonsEpic epic 1980s style slut shaming and hypocrisy I doubt if the Victorians and ole time cowboys and schoolmarms were as bad as Sandra Brown's charactersI never even got to Naksed’s concerns over the hero and the heroine’s mother I had other issues to worry abouthttpswwwgoodreadscomreviewshowview spoilerWhen the now pregnant town hussy is dragged to the church by her father half the men slink down in their pews as the baby could have been anyonesShame on SB for making the hussy and her father totally gross and unsympathetic Really grossThe number of boys who just want a roll in the hay literally a roll in the hay cause hey it’s TEXAS with anyone they can get their paws onThe hero drags the heroine’s vain and vapid competition behind the barn to have his way with her Yeah she’s shallow but she didn’t deserve to be treated like that I was really hoping they’d get caught and there would be ANOTHER shotgun wedding but then he wouldn’t get the heroineThe kicker was the ex fiancee who may or may not have gotten the hussy pregnant but is definitely the fall guy for the town SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER Turns out he was marrying the heroine for her land and is plotting to be an evil lumber baron and will strip the land He hates his now pregnant wife and in a disgusting cruel and nauseating scene murders her as she is giving birth to what may or may not be his child He doesn’t even stop to see what sex the baby is before setting fire to the hovel And I’m outta here hide spoiler

It's bad So bad it's almost good As these older romances can be it's either really bad or really good This one is a wonderful mix of both the very bad and the very good I cringed a lot during this book and I cheered a lot too At times it seemed like Sandra Brown had written two totally different sets of characters especially the hero Even in this older historical romance story Sandra Brown showed that she was not going to be bound by the unwritten rules of romance and the plot refused to conform which made for a very interesting storyBanner Coleman the Princess of River Bend and beloved daughter of Ross and Lydia has her perfect wedding day crapped on by her cheating fiancé Since what Banner wants Banner gets this is a real heavy blow to the 18 year old She was looking forward to her wedding night and she wants one so she is determined to get one just without a groom Jake Langston and his family have been friends almost family with the Coleman's for 20 years He has known Banner since her birth and knows she is headstrong and willful She is also beautiful and sensitive and he has always cared for her Banner is set on seducing him and Jake is powerless to resistThe passion and the guilt of that night in the barn follow Banner and Jake as Ross sets the terms for Banner's new ranch and one term is that Jake be the foreman and protect Banner As these two get to know each other as adults and endure the growing pains of a new relationship Jake's past casts a long shadow and secrets long buried can prove deadly3 12 Stars

Rate 5 stars Betrayal had ruined Banner Coleman's wedding day and on her wedding night she was a jilted bride Now old seeds of greed and desire are harvesting a scandal and Banner's affair with an old family friend could shatter a friendship and a familyThe Texas countryside was wide and wild the barn was warm and musty and the passion between Banner Coleman and her parents' best friend Jake Langston was going to be the start of trouble Betrayal had ruined Banner's wedding day and now on her wedding night she was a jilted bride Jake was the toughest cowhand in Texas yet Banner had broken down his resistance setting loose emotions neither of them expected Now Jake and Banner were caught up in a scandal that could tear apart a friendship and a family But theirs wasn't the only sin in this rough town outside of lusty Fort Worth Greed and desire stretched back to a wagon train journey twenty years before and this cattle land would explode once with a man's hunger and a woman's enduring loveI don't even know if I enjoyed this book I don't know how to put this but this book had me feelin' hot then cold cold then hot and hot and cold No doubt it had me completely captivated the entire time but I couldn't come to terms with the tragic ending When I say it's tragic I don't mean unhappy because the book does have a traditional 'happily ever after' but with Ross's death it just feels like the perfect picture is incomplete I found it difficult to understand why Sandra Brown would feel the need to write such a tragic death for him when he and Lydia worked so hard for their happiness If I had read Sunset Embrace before this one I wouldn't be sitting here writing a review for a one star book No I would be writing a review for a one of two star book The only thing that made it all bearable for me was because I hadn't read Ross's story I know Lydia and him had twenty years of happiness but it's never enough is it?I loved the Texan flavour to this book I'm not a particular fan of Western Romance but this book does it so well It's hard to explain it exactly but the setting truly enhances the story As for the characters I adored Banner and Jake I know it was initially hard for me to accept that Jake was twice Banner's age and in love with her mother but gradually age lost its importance and I came to enjoy their romance without feeling any discomfort Banner and Jake's romance is one of those intensely and passionately stormy ones It was a constant cycle of love hurt passion yearning and hurt It was hard not to find myself drawn into the web of emotions and there were so many facets to this story than just Banner and Jake's relationship I think Sandra Brown reached much deeper than the stereotypical historical romance with this one And this is the first time I've ever given 5 stars to a heartbreakerHe nodded Well good night Please Banner don't look at me like that I want to hold you but I can'tGood night Jake why are you punishing me for a sin that belonged to both of us? Don't hate me for itLock up good now hear? I remember how sweet you were Banner and I want you again But I can't I can'tI will Good night You were so sweet to me that night so tender and caring Why are you being so mean to me now?
