This is Sandra Carrington Smith's first book to my knowledge It is a little jewel Told in the voice of a wise woman in beautiful allegory with autobiography and narrative woven in Housekeeping for the Soul A Practical Guide to Restoring Your Inner Sanctuary will change you The way you view your home and your soul has the opportunity to be totally renovated if you follow Carrington Smith's sage advice I grew to eagerly anticipate the little gems of wisdom at the end of each chapter wherein Carrington Smith uses the lessons of Voudou and the OrishasLwa'sGoddesses to crystallize the lessons of the chapter I highly recommend this book especially if you wish to renew your soul's house

The author Sandra Carrington Smith is a colleague of mine That said I think she has written a very helpful book The metaphor of housecleaning one’s soul as one does one’s house is an apt one with the familiar dread at the start of the project and the growing excitement at having made significant progress while knowing that the process is never really complete The comparison of closets which are accessible to our conscious mind and attics which are less so to our subconscious mind crystallizes the metaphor In Housekeeping Sandra shares with us her accumulated wisdom gleaned from a childhood infused with spiritual elements from a variety of faith traditions her own hard won lessons from her uniue life experiences and her years as a life coach during which she has been able to integrate and pass on all that she has learned Housekeeping is chock full of sound psychological concepts fascinating tidbits about the spiritual practices of some lesser known religions and exercises and positive affirmations designed to facilitate growth all presented in a clear and encouraging style which makes one feel that lasting change is not only possible but is the logical result of finishing this book
